What a glorious Easter.
Our Brown Eyed Girl is turning in to such a little lady.
Don't ya just love the new tennis shoes?
They are her first pair of light-up shoes. She HAD to wear them. They are "boo-tiful" shoes. They make her go fast.
We pick our battles.
With the exception of searching for eggs, our day was nothing fancy.
After getting the kids dressed in the morning and loading up the Suburban, we headed into town and had to stop by the auto parts store. My lovely Handy Man spent the first couple of hours at my in-laws' house replacing the rear U-joint on my drive shaft. Thank you Lord for letting me fall in love with a handy man!
While Handy Man slaved away out in the garage, my mom and mother-in-law doted on the kids.
Mr Blue Eye's first Easter!
We hung out, the women chatted, and we watched the kids play with the goodies from their Easter baskets. We were so carefree about the day that we really never planned on what we were going to eat for lunch - so we ordered pizza. I think that was a first for both families. But it was delicious.
Before naps - like they ever ended up taking naps due to their surge-induced state - the hunt was on. Although a little lack luster for the adults just watching our Brown Eyed Girl find all the eggs with no competition, she had a great time.
Even in a solo hunt, she was an animal. No hesitation crawling under the deck.
Her basket quickly filling up.
There was no hiding from her.
High or low...
We covered low already, under the deck.
High it was.
We might need to call in some reinforcements.
Daddy to the rescue.
That smile was the best of the day. Priceless!
A very successful hunt indeed.
Notice the chubby cheeks and number of cracked open eggs in her basket.
Once every egg had been found, time to check out the rest of the loot.
3.5 seconds in the door...
...of course it's practical to dump the entire basket on the floor to survey.
Eggs filled with candy - what more could a little girl ask for?
We have an egg thief.
I suspect it was already picked clean though...
Since he couldn't do candy...
The Easter Bunny brought Mr Blue Eyes a toy helicopter.
You can put bright colored balls into it, and it makes noise - what more could a little dude ask for?
These kids have great Grandmas!
High on sugar, low on sleep, the opportunity for a cute picture in their Easter outfits was a long shot.
Shoot! Grandma's flash washed them out.
Take two.
Nope. There wasn't even time for a take two. The window of opportunity was over.
Feed them more sugar...
They both were asleep within two blocks of leaving. It was a great day relaxing outside on a wonderful spring afternoon, watching the Masters on TV and eating our weight in candy.
When we got home, I noticed my daffodils had bloomed!
It was a little windy, impossible to get a good shot.
None the less, Happy Easter!
