First Snow

Things are coming together as we unpack box after box (after box) and continue to renovate the new house to make it our own. We have taken on several projects since moving in. (more to come)

On Friday while I waited for the internet guy to arrive and make our home more civilized, I decided to tackle the master bathroom.

I am sorry.

But this had to go!

Rusty-orange-red-floor-to-ceiling-on-gray-tile-nightmare-of-a-bathroom.

Gone. Gone. Gone.

Not to mention my friends, this is the ONLY towel rack/rod/hook (what may you) in the entire bathroom! Okay so there is the one towel bar built onto the shower door. But still!

A hand towel loop-holder-thing-a-ma-jig. Do you know how hard it is to fit a full sized bath towel through there that is damp? Ask Handy Man (snicker-snicker.) Actually it was pretty funny to watch  Handy Man attempting to cram his towel through the loop. Cussing mildly and questioning me like I hung the darn thing up. I actually considered keeping it for the entertainment factor. Kidding. Gone. Gone. Gone. There is a reason those loop things are for hand towels. The previous owners were not related to Thomas, so I am just a little baffled by their choice in hardware and accessories.

I am also baffled as to why they chose this color AND painted not only the baseboards and the walls but also the CEILING the same terrible color.

Lazy... that is the only word for it. It's called painters tape people!!!

Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING needed priming.

Between the Chatty-Kathy internet installer who told me everything I needed to know about NASCAR while installing our modem - did you know that is wife only shops at Lowes because Lowes sponsors Jimmy Johnson (and she looooves Jimmy Johnson)? She has probably spent over $14,000 at Lowes. No joke. I was amazed as well! Crazy! - and priming this beast, my entire day was spent.

The only thing that saved my sanity - nope couldn't start drinking yet, had to get the kids at 4:30 from daycare - was watching the little mini blizzard roll through town. At one point a complete whiteout, the little storm left a clean blanket of snow.

Once the flakes had stopped, I couldn't help but snap a few pictures around the house. I realize I didn't get any good exterior photos. I didn't have a coat on and I was wearing slip on shoes that didn't mix well with the snow. The opportunity was very spontaneous.

This is the back deck. I can't wait for summer time. I am going to sit out on that deck while sipping an adult beverage, reading a good book and watching the kids play below - all summer.

Found one. Not sure why I took a picture of the BBQ. Might have been lunch time. Any who... these french doors are off the dining room and the window looks into the family room.

The porch extends all along the back side of the house. Those french doors are off the master bedroom.

I plan to get a chair and a little side table and sip my coffee in the summer mornings while I look at my new favorite view.

Can you believe it?!?! We have trees!

Under this snow there is grass - real grass!
And more trees!

I am not quite sure what I am going to do with this thing. I have never had a water feature/pond before. I am sure it will be very relaxing to sit out front while the kids run through the green grass and listen to the water trickle.

In all honesty, I need low maintenance in my life. I am giving this pond one year.

Every window I look out, I am in love with what I see. The trees. The serine feeling that overcomes me.

It may not be this view...

This view can only be described as God's country.

But my new views are an acceptable trade.

So how did that bathroom turn out you ask???

So. Much. Better.
