Love the Cubical

I returned from lunch today and noticed a little activity outside that was out of the norm. One of the tower office buildings was undergoing some sort of repairs on their windows today.

I found myself gawking. I couldn't help it.

Why on earth would anyone want to strap themselves in a free swinging platform suspended hundreds of feet in the air?

As the two men worked, the scaffolding equipment swayed freely from side to side and then forwards and backwards. As hard as I tried to "work" today, I kept finding myself watching the men. I was actually excited to take phone calls today. Each call meant I was able to watch the men working more intently.

The more I watched them, I found myself wishing I could ask them questions.

Do you have a radio to listen to?

Do you ever get motion sickness?

What do you talk about up there?

Is it hot up there? Or do you get a pretty good breeze?

How often do you drop things?

Do you have back-ups of most items in case you drop something?

What happens if you have to go to the bathroom?

How long does it take to do a building that size?

Do you ever give rides?

I am sure these are ridiculous questions. I can't help myself.

After four hours, this is as far as they got, maybe three floors. I am pretty sure this is one career field I would be happy to leave to the professionals and cross off my list of possibilities. Talk about a cramped work environment.
